The image at right includes our three sizes of horse sculptures.
As you explore this page, you will find examples
of our horse sculptures in a variety of colors. Any of the three
sizes can be ordered in any color shown.
Our artist Merikay can also work from a picture of your favorite horse,
to echo its color and markings.
All of the horses are made in the same way, so we’ll try not to repeat too much
of the descriptions. If you have any questions, please contact us using the links
at the bottom of this page.
Our large pinto horse head sculpture is
built upon a handmade, lightweight base, covered with several kinds of faux fur.
Our artist Merikay also makes the eyes by hand.
If you have or love a particular pinto, and you send us a picture,
Merikay can approximate his or her markings.
About Horses
Horses were domesticated about 5,000 years ago in Asia. They were
brought to the Americas by the Spanish, and escaped animals quickly spread to form
sizable wild herds on both continents. These new arrivals transformed the lifestyles
of some Native American tribes.
Nowadays horses are companions and racing animals in industrialized
countries.
This large palomino horse head sculpture
was one of several horses commissioned by an elder-care center in Minnesota,
for a “memory room” that provides mental stimulation. We hope
they bring back good memories for the residents.
Since making this horse, our artist Merikay has reduced the relative size of
all of our horses’ ears.
Our medium size horses are the most popular.
Four of our brown horse head sculptures were used in a commercial for the
New York State lottery. Each had a unique white blaze and a handmade halter.
Our artist Merikay is always open to commissions based on pictures of
your favorite horses.
This small black horse head sculpture is among the
smallest, most affordable horses in our virtual paddock. Like its larger cousins, it
is made with faux furs over a handmade base, and has shiny handmade eyes. Just the
thing for a horse fancier or giver!
Our small brown horse head sculpture
is covered with soft man-made fur. This fur is slightly lighter and softer than the
fur used on the medium brown horse. If you want this type of brown, enter
“lighter brown” in the “Notes and Special Instructions” field
of our order form.
The last member of our horse family is the
Przewalski’s horse.
Przewalski’s horses lived in Mongolia and are thought to be the
ancestors of modern horses and donkeys. They became extinct in the wild
and today are preserved in zoos.
A better picture of him can be found as my medium brown donkey. At an
outdoor show, someone loved him as a donkey. Never correct a buyer!
