“A few years ago I bought three of your animals, keeping one for myself (I couldn’t resist), and giving two to my grandchildren in Illinois. Soon I intend to get a couple more animals for myself.”

How to Get a Head Without Hunting
Mongoose Head Sculpture
Select our playfully designed mongoose wall hanging sculpture for a small or narrow wall space.

Our mongoose sculpture features a handmade, lightweight base, covered with brown faux fur with hand-painted markings. Our artist Merikay also paints the alert-looking eyes.

Merikay designed her first mongoose sculpture for her solo show “San Francisco Safari” in 2004.

You can order one like this charming creature today for yourself or your favorite mongoose fan.

The color and markings of this mongoose are typical of a Meller’s mongoose, which lives in Eastern Africa. Please allow for slight artistic variations since each of these sculptures is an individual work of art.

About Mongooses
Mongooses live in Africa, Southern Asia, and southern Spain. They are mostly carnivorous but will supplement their diet with fruit in hard times. Since Rudyard Kipling’s Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, many people think that mongooses feed mainly on snakes. But there are far too few snakes, and far too many mongooses in their range, for snakes to be a major diet item.

Most mongooses are solitary but some live and hunt in packs, which like dog packs have dominance ordering for both breeding and feeding. They are endangered only by habitat destruction by humans, particularly in Madagascar.
